Matt Ellis is a glass fusing instructor and research technician at Bullseye Glass in Portland, Oregon. He has a BFA in Photography and a BS in General Science and Chemistry from the University of Oregon. Formerly an employee of the University of Oregon Special Collections and Archives, his projects explore the construction of history within archives. In theory, the archive is a non-destructive and stable storage system of information, and Matt seeks to overturn the possibility of a stable history. Turning single sets of visual information into multilinear histories, he decenters the notion of historical truth, changing the visual and temporal context in which images are viewed.
